Wisp Resort, Deep Creek MD

2007 NCC BMW CCA Fall Tour - Deep Creek Lake, MD
Saturday & Sunday, November 3 & 4, 2007
Destination: Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia
Departure Time: 9:00 am
Departure Locations: VA & MD (final locations TBA)

***Updated September 3, 2007***

With the departure of Tourmeister extraordinaire Steven Schlossman, arranging this year’s tour fell to two previous Guest Tourmeisters: Bob Stern and David Costanza. Given that Bob lives in Maryland and David in Virginia, their default was to start and run the tours in their respective home states. In an unprecedented outbreak of inter-state comity, Bob and David decided to design a Fall tour that starts in both states and runs through the other as well as a third.

This year, the NCC BMW CCA overnight Fall Tour will have two starting points. For those members north of the Potomac River, Bob will lead the Maryland (and PA, DE, etc.) contingent on the tour starting from outside of Baltimore. For those coming from Virginia (and points south and east), David will lead that group starting in Virginia (Manassas or Sterling). The two groups will drive independently for the morning before meeting up.

CHANGE:
Please note - The VA group will follow back roads and then go on a tour of the Historic Long Branch manor house (http://www.historiclongbranch.com).  Due to the timing and roads, the MD group will drive back roads to Middletown and lunch, bypassing Long Branch. If you want to tour the house, you *must* start with the VA group.

Lunch will be at the oldest continuously operating inn in the United States, The Wayside Inn (http://alongthewayside.com).  After lunch, the combined forces will continue together on the Tour through the mountains of West Virginia. The tour will finish up with a drive through the hollows of western Maryland before arriving at our final destination: Wisp Resort in Deep Creek, MD, where we will enjoy a reception and dinner.

Wisp (http://www.wispresort.com) has a golf course, spa, indoor pool, fitness center, racquetball, hiking, and lots of other activities. Weather permitting, the chair lifts will be running and other late fall activities may be available. Wisp has a block of rooms for us at the rate of $79 (plus 10% tax). You are responsible for making and paying for your own room reservations. To make a reservation, please call 800-462-9477 and mention the BMW Car Club Fall Tour event. Rooms should be reserved by Friday, October 19th in order to guarantee the rate and availability. Reservations received after this date will be subject retail rates as the group rate may no longer be available. Guests will have up until 7 days prior to arrival to cancel reservations at no penalty. Within the 7 day window, one night’s lodging will be charged.

The hotel rooms are designed to accommodate one to six people and all deluxe rooms feature a refrigerator, TV, On Command Movies, in-room coffee, and a telephone with voice mail and data port. There are some Two-Room suites available (at the same rate) that feature a bedroom with either two double beds or a queen size bed and a living room area with a queen wall bed, plus all the amenities.

There are currently no arranged activities for Sunday morning, but there are some things in the works and a multitude of activities in the area (golf, fishing, biking, boating, etc., again, weather permitting). When folks are ready to head home, Wisp is just a few miles from I-68, providing easy access back to MD and VA.

The total cost for lunch, tours, reception, and dinner is $50/person. This includes the house tour, lunch, an evening reception, and a buffet dinner. The following are the steps to register for the Fall Tour.
1. Go to the NCC BMW CCA website and open the registration form
2. Fill out the form, being sure to make choices for your preferred Tour starting point and your lunch entree.
3. Print out the registration form, making a copy for yourself
4. Send the registration form along with a check for $50/person made out to NCC BMW CCA to:

2007 NCC BMW CCA Fall Tour
    c/o David Costanza
    14106 Wood Rock Way
