Rain or Shine, We Drive and Dine II
Antietam National Battlefield, Sharpsburg, Maryland and
Bavarian Inn, Shepherdstown, West Virginia

Start: 10:00 a.m.
We will meet at the new Park & Ride in Urbana, Maryland, off I-270 and Route 80. The route instructions will use a standard TSD rally format, which will be easy to follow. The journey will take us through the back roads of Maryland to West Virginia. After a 90 minute trip we will stop at the Antietam National Battlefield, http://www.nps.gov/anti/. The admission is $2.00 per person. A movie is presented at noon or you can take a self-guided tour. Afterwards we continue on our Spring journey to the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, where a wonderful dinner will be waiting for us. Dress is business causal - no jeans or sneakers. The cost is $35 per person. Money will be collected at the start in Urbana. Due to the anticipated size of our group a limited menu has been chosen (see below). We will be dining around 1:00 p.m. Restrooms, gas and snacks are available at the start at a nearby Exxon. You can check out the Inn at http://www.bavarianinnwv.com.
If you are interested in joining our Spring Tour, please RSVP no later than March 11, preferably by e-mail, to Steven Schlossman at stevenhappytogethercom or by phone, 202/478-0768. In your RSVP please include your meal selection so that the restaurant can prepare accordingly. You do not need to eat at the Bavarian Inn to participate in the drive, however, we may not be able to accommodate you at the restaurant if you decide at the last minute that you want to dine with us. But feel free to join us for the drive; the more the merrier!
Choice 1: Chicken Piccata. Tender Breast of Chicken sauteed with shallots, white wine and parsley lemon butter.
Choice 2: Pork Tenderloin. Pork Tenderloin served with a Dijon Hollandaise sauce, roasted red potatoes and haricot verts.
Choice 3: Grilled West Virginia Trout. Grilled West Virginia Trout with tomato, capers and a white wine sauce served with seasonal vegetables and saffron rice.
Choice 4: Portabello Wellington. Portbello mushrooms, spinach and julienned vegetables in a puff pastry with a tomato and red pepper coulis.
Soup, Apple Strudel and beverage included. Cash bar.
Directions to the Start:
From the Baltimore Beltway (I-695) take I-70 West to Exit 62 (Route 75). Turn left at STOP to follow Route 75 South.
After 3.2 miles, turn right at STOP onto Route 80 West.
Continue 4.3 miles, straight at traffic light (Route 355), through traffic circle, then left into the new Park & Ride.
From the Washington, DC, Beltway (I-495) take I-270 North to Exit 26 (Route 80). Meet at the new Park & Ride across Route 80.
